I ORDERED FOOD IN CHINESE!!!

I finally found someone at the Chinese food shop in the food court of my local shopping centre who can speak Mandarin (some can speak Cantonese, not Mandarin). Today I finally had the guts to order food in Chinese, and it worked!!

服务员:你想吃什么?
我:我想吃特别炒饭,没有猪肉。

Transliteration and translation:
Fúwùyuán: Nǐ xiǎng chī shénme? (What would you like to eat?)
Wǒ: Wǒ xiǎng chī tèbié chǎofàn, méiyǒu zhū ròu. (I would like to eat special fried rice, no pork.)

When the food came I asked for another plate so that my mum could share with me. I managed that too:

我: 我们要另一个盘子。
Wǒ: Wǒmen yào lìngyīgè pánzi. (We want another plate.)
(Sounds rude to just say "we want," but apparently that's how you can order food and stuff in Chinese, according to what we learned at school.)
